Years 7-10
Literacy and numeracy are embedded in everything we do at Fairbridge College. Students in Years 7 -10 undertake a more traditional program that is mapped to the WA Curriculum with particular focus on English, Maths, Science and HASS.
Teachers are required to explore and use alternative learning methodologies to encourage young people to succeed in learning activities. These methodologies are often more practical and hands on. Additionally, teachers utilise the appropriate year/level from curriculum documents to plan their courses so that students can successfully improve their general skills as well as their literacy and numeracy. Fairbridge College programs are also mapped to the General Capabilities to ensure that students are developing important ‘soft skills’ for future success. Teachers are required to include opportunities for students to develop these essential skills, behaviours and dispositions over the course of their time at the school. Further, teachers are also expected to include the cross-curriculum priorities that are described in the WA Curriculum.
