Fairbridge College provides internal and external ‘classrooms’ that are a critical variable in positively effecting student morale and learning. The opportunities for student involvement in the process of creating their environment through live works programs can empower them, develop community and increase motivation. Much of what students will do is industry focused and, therefore, will be an important transition process into further education, training or employment.
Fairbridge College is a Waste Wise accredited school. We currently employ a four-bin waste management system aimed at reducing our contribution to landfill. There are also plans for an eco/permaculture garden, which will be prepared and used to grow appropriate crops. The vegetables grown will be used by students in the kitchen and could also be sold or used in other projects as driven by innovative ideas of students and staff. The School building/s and their surrounds may also be part of other live projects which will include sustainable outside areas and planting as per the heritage and other restrictions which Fairbridge must meet.
